Mid-State Litho is the authorized Michigan dealer for Akiles Products, with the Diamond corner rounder family and the VersaMac multi-pattern paper punch in stock and on the showroom floor. Akiles equipment runs in print shops, copy centers, packaging operations, and document-finishing departments across Michigan and the Great Lakes - we sell, install, train, stock parts for, and service every Akiles machine we sell.
Our Akiles catalog covers two finishing operations: corner rounding and multi-pattern paper punching.
The Akiles Diamond corner rounder family handles every production tier from the manual entry-level Diamond 1 ($155 list, hand-operated, ideal for short-run business cards and proof sets) up through the heavy-duty Diamond-7 ($6,184 list, electric, ideal for production binderies running stacks up to 2 inches). The Diamond-5 and Diamond-6 sit between the two ends, both heavy-duty electric models with progressively higher cycle ratings and stack capacities. All four ship with interchangeable corner-radius dies covering 1/8 inch through 1 inch.
The Akiles VersaMac is a modular electric paper punch that accepts interchangeable die sets. The base machine punches at production speed; the dies determine the hole pattern. Die families include round-hole 3-hole, 5:1 plastic-coil oval, 3:1 wire-O, 2:1 wire-O, and 4:1 spiral coil - die selection is per-job, swap takes under a minute. We stock common dies and ship rare patterns within the week from the Akiles factory.
Mid-State Litho has supported Michigan print shops since 1984. We replace Akiles blades and dies; we do not sharpen them. Phil Rembert leads same-day service across Grand Blanc, Grand Rapids, and the Great Lakes service area.
Akiles Diamond Corner Rounders - Manual to Heavy-Duty Production
The Akiles Diamond family covers four distinct corner-rounding tiers:
- Diamond 1 (manual) - hand-operated, $155 list, suited for short-run business cards, proof sets, and finishing tasks under 50 sheets per cycle. Quick die change, no electrical hookup, fits on any desk.
- Diamond-5 (electric) - $3,504 list, production-tier electric model with foot-pedal trigger, suited for daily-volume print shops cycling business cards, brochures, and laminated stock.
- Diamond-6 (heavy-duty electric) - $5,565 list, heavy-duty motor and reinforced die assembly for higher cycle counts, larger stack heights, and continuous production runs.
- Diamond-7 (heavy-duty production) - $6,184 list, top of the Diamond family, suited for high-volume binderies and packaging operations cycling thousands of pieces per shift. Largest stack-height capacity in the line.
All four Diamond models accept interchangeable corner-radius dies from 1/8 inch through 1 inch. Mid-State Litho stocks the standard 1/4 inch die with every machine and ships specialty radii from the Akiles factory within the week. Need a card slitter to pair with corner rounding? See our business card cutters collection for the matching cut-and-round workflow.
Akiles VersaMac Modular Paper Punch System
The Akiles VersaMac is a single electric paper-punch chassis that accepts a family of interchangeable dies. The base machine handles production-speed punching; die selection is per-job and takes under a minute to swap.
Common die patterns we stock or order:
- Round-hole 3-hole for standard ring-binder output
- 5:1 plastic-coil oval for ProClick, Roll@Blade, and similar plastic-spiral binding
- 3:1 wire-O for the most common wire-binding pitch
- 2:1 wire-O for heavier-pitch wire-binding output
- 4:1 spiral coil for short-run spiral coil binding
Each die is sold separately. See the Akiles VersaMac standard punching die page for currently-stocked die patterns. The 5:1 oval die feeds plastic-coil binding workflows; the 3:1 and 2:1 wire-O dies feed wire binding. The VersaMac itself is call-for-pricing, typical configured cost runs $3,500 to $8,000 depending on die count.
Akiles Service, Parts & Blade Policy
Mid-State Litho services every Akiles machine we sell, plus most Akiles equipment we did not. Phil Rembert leads our finishing-equipment service team and the Akiles brand has been in our service rotation since the early 1990s.
We replace Akiles blades and dies; we do not sharpen them. Akiles blades and dies are precision-ground at the factory and re-sharpening alters the geometry, which produces inconsistent cuts. We stock the most common Diamond corner-radius dies and the highest-velocity VersaMac die patterns. Rare dies and replacement blades ship from the Akiles factory within the week.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between manual, electric, and heavy-duty Akiles Diamond corner rounders?
Manual (Diamond 1, $155) is hand-operated and suited for short runs under 50 sheets per cycle. Electric (Diamond-5, $3,504) is foot-pedal triggered for daily-volume production. Heavy-duty (Diamond-6, $5,565 / Diamond-7, $6,184) handles continuous runs with larger stack heights and higher cycle ratings.
Which Akiles Diamond model fits my production volume?
Under 200 cards/day: Diamond 1 manual. 200-2,000 cards/day: Diamond-5 electric. 2,000-10,000 cards/day: Diamond-6 heavy-duty. Over 10,000 cards/day: Diamond-7 heavy-duty production. Talk to MSL for a recommendation based on your actual stack heights and substrate types.
What die patterns does the Akiles VersaMac accept?
The VersaMac accepts a modular die family covering round-hole 3-hole, 5:1 plastic-coil oval, 3:1 wire-O, 2:1 wire-O, and 4:1 spiral-coil patterns. Each die is sold separately. Mid-State Litho stocks the highest-velocity patterns and ships rare dies from the Akiles factory within the week.
